How about something a little more experimental? This looks to be the second musical offering from the duo of Cesare Discepoli on guitar and effects and Massimo Discepoli on drums. The music was composed and recorded between 2014 and 2016 in Assisi, Italy. It’s a quick thirty-two minute listening experience that displays a haunting and moody low-fi musical experience. The eight instrumental compositions are all between three and five minutes in length and present themselves as kind of sonic experiments or audioscapes. Some of these tunes reflect a kind of ambient feel while others rock a little more and some fall into a kind of jazzy-fusion zone. It is essential lots of different guitar sounds playing against some complex drum patterns. There is a loose, improvisational feel that runs through the music and yet it hangs together really well with pretty much an equal focus on guitar sounds and drumming riffs. Some of the tunes come off as more thought-out than others, given how both musicians start, stop, speed up or slow down at pretty much the time and place. It’s the kind of music that throws up lots of repeated riffs building into a kind-of hypnotic vibe, only to change time, tempo and musical direction every so often to keep the listener on their toes. This is quite intriguing music that will have great appeal to prog fans that enjoy music of a more experimental and introspective nature. Mark your calendars – this album is recommended for you – the album is set to be released on March 15th.
